Capstone Project

What is a Capstone Project at Northeastern?

he Northeastern University capstone course provides students with the opportunity to apply organizational communication theory and skills to real-world consulting projects under faculty supervision. Students partner with external organizations to conduct research, develop strategic recommendations, and deliver professional solutions while reflecting on the consultative process.

What organization did I work with?

For my Winter 2026 capstone, I collaborated with a team of three students on a consulting project for Uncut Lab, a firm that provides data consulting services to small businesses, nonprofits, and local government agencies. Our team was tasked with developing strategic recommendations to enhance their website and create an outbound communications plan, working closely with the founder through weekly meetings to align our approach with organizational goals.

What did I take away from this project?

This experience strengthened my ability to apply academic concepts in a real-world setting, particularly in developing strategic yet feasible recommendations for a small organization. I focused on refining Uncut Lab’s brand voice by proposing a more consistent, human-centered tone across their website and communications, while also contributing to a comprehensive report and client presentation that translated research insights into actionable strategies.
